Bangkok Beginnings

After about 24 hours of travel, I finally made it to Bangkok, Thailand! Yesterday we went out exploring, spending a full 12 hrs venturing around the city’s markets and the Jim Thompson House (the guy who is responsible for introducing Thai silk to the American market). I was exhausted last night to say the least. I’m a little sad to report that there was no interesting fashion at the Tokyo airport, but that did not mean I didn’t see some fascinating things here in Bangkok!

Walking around the city, we came across some pretty awesome street sculpture, like this spilled basket of jewels.

How’s that for some statement jewelry?

We continued on to the Jim Thompson House, where we toured the property and his amazing traditional Thai house. They have now incorporated a gallery, which displays some traditional Thai costumes. This one is for ceremony. Beautiful, isn’t it?

We then ventured over toward the Siam Center, where we saw that they were scheduled to have a fashion show!

The show came complete with a trampoline and neon lights. It was quite energetic!

Overall, the day was quite entertaining and so far I love the city! I can’t wait to see what today brings!
